Tavira’s Barril beach was evacuated on Monday after several beachgoers spotted what they thought was the fin of a shark.
Maritime police searched the coastline for over two hours but found no sign of anything like a shark.
Faro ports captain Cortes Lopes told Jornal de Notícias there are “many other sea creatures” with fins similar to sharks, though he did not elaborate.
