‘Sex Education in Schools’ is the theme for the second pedagogical lecture organised by the International School of the Algarve. The lecture will be given in Portuguese by Marta Crawford, a graduate in psychology, specialised in clinical sexology.
The lecture will be held at the Municipal Theatre in Portimão (TEMPO), on February 25, from 6pm, with the support of Portimão Câmara.
Marta Crawford is a clinical psychologist and an experienced communicator. She has written three books on the subject of sexual education and regularly participates in lectures and educational training. She is a well-known public figure and is often invited to comment on television programmes.
In 2005 and 2006, Marta Crawford hosted the television programme AB Sexo on TVI. In 2007, she had a psychology feature on the programme Factor M and in 2009 hosted Aqui Há Sexo on TVI24 cable channel.
Currently Marta Crawford hosts the programme 100 Tabus on cable channel SIC Mulher. She has also written articles for Diário de Notícias, Lux Woman, Mundo Universitário and i newspaper.
A spokesman from the school said: “The International School of the Algarve believes that it is important for educators and parents to have access to current pedagogical theories in order to ensure effective schooling and parenting for our children.”
The pedagogical lectures will be held monthly at various venues throughout the Algarve. They are open to the general public and free of charge. The first lecture was held in January in Lagoa on the subject of bullying.
