An old sewage pipe that frequently discharges “dirty, brown water” near the Pau da Bandeira fortress in Lagos is causing uproar among locals and tourists, mainly due to its “unbearable smell”.
When the tide is low, the dirty water even reaches the nearby Batata beach.
Lagos mayoress Joaquina Matos told Correio da Manhã that the council and regional water authority Águas do Algarve are doing whatever they can to stop the discharges.
