Seven new judges brought in to overworked TCIC (court of criminal instruction) in Lisbon

Magistrates have applauded the government’s decision to bring in seven further judges to preside over cases at Lisbon’s TCIC (court of criminal instruction) which has been labouring fo ryears under two judges, neither of which appear to get on with each other. Justice minister Francisca van Dunem said the measure has been designed “to alleviate existing tensions around the circumstance of there being only two judges at TCIC”. By all accounts, magistrates feel confident that the enormous burden of complicated cases will now become more equitably and swiftly dispatched.
