Alert runs from 3am to 3pm on Wednesday
Seven districts in Portugal – Viseu, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga – will be under yellow alert tomorrow due to forecasts of heavy rain and possible thunder, the national sea and atmosphere institute (IPMA) has announced.
The alert will run from 3am to 3pm on Wednesday (October 19).
Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga will also be under yellow alert due to strong southern winds, which are expected to reach up to 85 kilometres per hour in coastal areas and highlands, from midnight to 9am on Wednesday.
The final yellow alert warning covers the districts of Porto, Faro, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga and will run from 3am on Thursday to 3am on Friday due to forecasts of rough seas, with waves due to reach heights of four to five metres.
