Serving authentic Chinese food for 30 years

Serving authentic Chinese food since 1979, Restaurante Mandarim is the longest established Chinese restaurant in Lagos.

Owner of the restaurant, Julie Garvey, came to the Algarve for a week’s holiday and soon bought a holiday home in Lagos. Eventually moving permanently to the Algarve with her two young sons, Julie decided to start a business venture that would enable her to bring up her children and earn a living at the same time.

“The restaurant is attached to my home meaning I could look after my sons and run my business,” Julie said. “They are grown up now but I continue to run the restaurant. I like to keep busy.”

The restaurant, which was the first Chinese restaurant in Lagos, serves very reasonably priced Chinese food – in generous portions – that tastes fresh and authentic, with prices remaining the same for the past eight years.

The restaurant also caters for functions, including group dinners with live music and dancing. “We have many groups of golfers who visit year after year. They often eat out every night and our restaurant offers an alternative to Portuguese cuisine,” she said.

Restaurante Mandarim is a warm, inviting and relaxed restaurant. In the summer months, guests can eat around the stunning pool side. This winter, Julie has a special offer menu for pensioners. “A lot of our customers have been coming for years and we want to give them something back for their loyalty over the years,” Julie said.

Restaurante Mandarim, located at Casa Madeda-rc in Lagos, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 7pm. For more information, please contact Julie on 282 760 424 or email [email protected]
