Seniors Club apartments satisfy a need in the market

Opened as a  residential and holiday resort in 2009, the first impression of The Residences at Vilamoura today is one of quality, as you would expect from an André Jordan resort.

With 25 of the 97 owners – there are 145 apartments in total – being over 55 years of age, a need in this market group was identified.

Most of these seniors were seeking a new home which offered “that something extra” to backup their lifestyle.

To satisfy this need, the Seniors Club at The Residences has evolved as a major feature of the resort by ensuring a range of the desired support services.

The Algarve Resident spoke to Seniors Club members Stuart and Denise Robson, who moved here in 2009. “We had a place in Vale do Lobo but bought here because we liked The Residences and the idea of an apartment with concierge services. Now, after three years, we can say ‘it does what it says on the tin’. You ask them (at the reception) and they take care of it.

“We are quite active and enjoy socialising with the other owners at The Residences, so the idea that someone else takes care of things you don’t want to bother with – like  repairs, laundry, cleaning, reservations and the like – is just great,” said Stuart.

Denise added: “It’s a lifestyle choice and it has everything you want. And the place is immaculate.”

As a bonus to the Seniors Club, a special arrangement for members has been made with the Private Hospital in Loulé.

Providing coverage for more than 30 different health areas, the modern hospital is very well equipped and thus is virtually a one-stop solution for members’ healthcare. The hospital even provides onsite services when needed at the resort.

The facilities

The Residences is a private condominium with underground parking, walled gardens and manned security 24/7. It looks over the 8th and 9th fairway of the Victoria golf course, home to the Portugal Masters.

Owners at The Residences benefit from special golf discounts on all Vilamoura courses, while a free shuttle service simplifies access to the town centre and its cosmopolitan Marina, which offers many  activities for both tourists and the expatriate community.

For Stuart and Denise Robson, their choice was the right one: “Another major benefit is that you are never alone as the staff knows you and your needs. It makes life so much easier.”
