The Pestana Golf & Resorts played hosts to the PGA European Senior Tour Qualifying School for the 11th successive year earlier this month.
Amongst the 161 hopefuls who competed on the Pestana Gramacho, Silves and Vila Sol courses were Northern Ireland’s 2008 winner Jimmy Heggarty, the father of Spanish Ryder Cup star Sergio Garcia, Victor, and former US PGA Tour winner Mike Donald.
However, only 70 competitors could make it through to the Vale da Pinta final and there it was the 59-year-old American Dick Mast who was the first to grab one of the six available 2012 Senior Tour cards with an overall 14-under-par score.
