Twenty-six members of the Algarve Senior Bikers (ASB) turned up for the February ride on a clear and sunny day reaching 19ºC.
There were two groups led by Ulf Kollbratt and Stan Green, ably assisted by Bob Chesters and Claus Aabo who stood in for Fritz Norrgard who was unwell.
Riders started from O Rústico café at Fontes de Boliqueime, heading north and stopping to visit the Buddhist monument at Malhão from where there is a tremendous view of the surrounding countryside. A walk round the monument in a clockwise direction is said to give you good karma.
The group then set off to the coffee stop in Ameixial via the M506, passing through Corte Figueira and Mendonça.
ASB members then continued down the N2 to Cortela and Funchais on the M524, then on to Paderne and Ferreiras. The lunch stop was at the ITAL FOOD restaurant, which is on the westbound side of the EN125 before reaching Algarve Shopping. The group enjoyed “an amazing feast” served by Justinho and his staff.
