Algarve Senior Bikers Group is celebrating its second anniversary in June.
The informal group of experienced riders now meet on a regular basis to enjoy both the riding and the social aspect of motorcycling. Meetings usually consist of a leisurely ride in the beautiful countryside of the Algarve and normally include stops for coffee and lunch.
The group involves members from several different countries and from all parts of the Algarve.
The ASB has no formal organisation and no fees are charged for membership and it is free to take part in the rides. Members just pay for their own drinks and lunch.
There are now around 100 members on the mailing list and usually 30 to 40 riders attend each ride which can be up to 150kms and usually finish with a leisurely lunch before riders make their own way home.
In the future it is hoped there may be longer tours of two or three days to more distant places and to events such as the Moto GP or the World Superbikes.
The next ride is on June 26 starting from São Brás de Alportel for a tour in the east of Algarve finishing in Fonte de Bispo for lunch.
