Sell-out concert raises money for children

A total of €500 was raised for the Associação Uma Porta Amiga children’s home in Tavira at a recent sell-out performance by the Algarve Rock Choir at the Zé Dias Restaurant in São Brás de Alportel.

Santa turned up in person to accept the cheque from representatives of the choir. The money will be used to purchase much-needed furniture for the recreation room at the home.

More than 40 choir members and musicians performed a mixture of popular hits and Christmas songs.

Howard Scott Parkin, the Musical Director of the choir, said: “It was our biggest show yet, with more choir members on stage than ever before!”

Such is the success of this unique choir, it has a waiting list of people wanting to join in the New Year.
