Border control agency SEF has given the minister for internal administration Constança Urbano de Sousa until Monday (July 31) to resolve various issues under dispute.
If nothing comes through there is the possibility of a new strike.
Most pressing is the need for at least 200 new inspectors, explains SEF’s union president Acácio Pereira.
The situation poses yet another headache for the minister who has faced criticism throughout her tenure.
