SEF (Serviços de Estrangeiros and Fronteiras) inspectors and staff are on strike today in protest to the government’s plans to ‘extinguish’ the agency, siphoning off its policing powers to the PSP, GNR and PJ forces. The SEF syndicate’s contention is that the new ‘entity’ to be created SEA (click here) will not bring answers to problems that have been around for years thanks to “howling lack of investment” over the last 20 years.
