SEF extinction delayed

Just as predicted, the government’s deadline for the extinction of borders agency SEF has been delayed for a second time, as the complexities of this re-structuring initiative are enormous. SIC television has recently run an in-depth report on how little seems to have been achieved so far, and how much confusion reigns. Today (Friday) the new minister for interior administration José Luís Carneiro has simply repeated his assurances that the government “is working towards the extinction of SEF taking place with serenity, stability and trust” – meaning “it’s taking much longer than we thought…” A new date for the service’s demise has not been set.
