Millennium bcp is the first bank in Portugal to enable clients to view and print the images of cheques given for payment and debited by beneficiaries, via their internet banking website, www.millenniumbcp.pt. The bank says it will help customers control their spending. Cheques can be viewed for verification three to five days after they are debited.
The bank has also launched an English language version of the main online banking operations website. Now customers can look at consolidated assets, check their account balance and verify movements, make national and international transfers, pay bills and recharge mobile phones, check the international exchange markets and buy and sell currency.
A spokesman from the bank explained: “Millennium bcp is the first of the main national banks to respond to the expectations of an important segment of foreign clients residing in Portugal and second generations of emigrants.”
Millennium bcp’s internet banking website for private clients and companies already has more than one million registered clients and 115,000 visits every day – 70 per cent of which are for verifications and 30 per cent for operations. Over 50 per cent of the bank’s exchange market orders are performed through www.millenniumbcp.pt. Similarly, 65 per cent of the bank’s mortgage credit simulations are carried out via the website.
Millennium bcp’s website recently won an award for the Best Integrated Site for private clients in Europe and also, for the second consecutive year, the Best Site for Companies in Portugal in the Global Finance magazine awards. In addition, readers of PC Guia magazine recently voted it the Best Financial Site in Portugal for the third consecutive year. The site is also available in SMS, PDA Pocket PC and via Smartphones.
