Security company linked to GNR

Portuguese private security company Charon has launched a new security service for the Algarve that connects clients to the police forces of the region.

The system, with headquarters based in Boliqueime, uses new tools and technology to allow clients to be connected, in real time, to the services of the police in the case of a breach in security.

The service has been created in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, with other companies also due to take part in the project which was unveiled last year (see the Algarve Resident, edition June 4).

The Algarve Seguro project was revealed by the Minister of Internal Affairs in May last year as a pioneering initiative to improve the security of the region by providing new equipment to security forces and linking private companies, such as Charon, to the police.

The aim of the system is to increase the efficiency of crime intervention and decrease the response times by security forces in the Algarve once an alarm has been triggered, especially in more remote areas of the region.

Joaquim Miranda from Charon said: “Charon is the first company to offer customers in the Algarve a security system that has been created in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the police authorities of the region to enable a fast and effective intervention response.”

The company believe that the new security system will not only benefit customers of Charon, it will also indirectly help those living close to Charon customers.
