Secretary of State for Tourism is guest speaker at Algarve lunch debate

Portugal’s Secretary of State for Tourism Adolfo Mesquita Nunes will be the guest speaker at a lunch-debate at the Hilton Vilamoura on February 3 at 12.30pm.
Chris Barton, CEO of the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, organisers of the event, said: “The vast majority of our members in the Algarve have a direct or indirect reliance on tourism. How government supports and promotes this sector has frequently been the subject of controversy.
“Many studies strongly suggest that there exist ample opportunities for further growth. However, many of the existing players argue that recently imposed government policies have reduced the competitiveness of the region and new investors have been deterred.”
Adolfo Mesquita Nunes will explain current thinking on how the Plano Estratégico Nacional de Turismo (national strategic plan for tourism) will help to invigorate the sector and attract further investment.
Cost for members is €35 and for non members €49.20. Bookings and payment must be made before January 30.
