Second team of German military doctors and nurses arrives to help Portugal through worst of Covid-19

A second team of German military medical personnel has arrived in Portugal today to relieve the 26 colleagues who have been here for the last three weeks, working specifically with intensive care patients at Lisbon’s Hospital da Luz. With the outgoing team saying they leave feeling ‘not like superheroes, but simply that we did our job’, secretary of state Diogo Serra Luz has said their help and expertise has been fundamental. It’s expected that this latest team will be relieved by a third before Portugal’s virus situation has calmed sufficiently to no longer require European support.
