Authorities have resumed this morning searches for a 63-year-old British man who is believed to have gone missing in the Guadiana River on Monday (December 6).
The searches started yesterday and are being coordinated by the maritime police commander of Vila Real de Santo António.
The man – who lives on a sailboat anchored along the river – was last seen near the Guerreiros do Rio area in Alcoutim while aboard a smaller boat which he used to get to shore, according to the national maritime authority. He is described as “very well known in the area”.
The searches are being carried out with a boat from the Vila Real de Santo António lifeboat station and a boat from the Salvamento Marítimo Espanhol maritime rescue authority.
