Searches undertaken into suspicions of corruption involving State institutions

DCIAP – the central department of investigation and penal action – and the PJ’s anti-corruption unit have today led searches on various homes, businesses and offices, among them those of the secretary general of the interior ministry. Focus was said to be centred on “recovering evidence relating to the possible favoring of private entities and individuals in detriment to the public interest”. At issue are contracts related to the internal emergency communications system SIRESP. Crimes in the  frame are corruption, abuse of power, economic participation in business and ‘prevarication’ (meaning the concealing of crime).
