Thousands of people were in town for the second edition of Albufeira Sea Fest, described as a “great party for families and youngsters” held on Friday and Saturday (April 7-8).
The event featured concerts – including a headlining performance by Portuguese rapper Carlão – as well as performances by some of the best national skaters and BMX riders. There was also a wealth of street entertainment, traditional games, workshops and environmental education activities.
The local mayor has celebrated the event’s success, saying that it has “bolstered Albufeira as a leading destination for families and youngsters during the Easter school break.
“This is an event that showcases our efforts to promote the town of Albufeira not only nationally, but internationally,” said Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo.
“It is important for our residents and visitors to see Albufeira as a tourism destination that invests in top cultural events. Albufeira is a town which apart from its good weather has good food, excellent hospitality and great artists and athletes,” the mayor added.
Deputy mayor Cristiano Cabrita added that the event represents an “investment in the musical, artistic and sporting talent of Albufeira’s youngsters.”
