Sea and mountain gastronomy

Cacela in Vila Real de Santo António is hosting the 4th Mostra Gastronómica de Cacela, a festival celebrating food from the area, situated “between the mountain and the sea” as the event’s slogan goes.

Running until the end of the month, the festival showcases local dishes such as “espinheta de atum com feijão fradinho” (tuna and black eyed pea salad), “carapaus alimados” (scaled horse mackerel), “escalopes de atum marinado e recheado com presunto e queijo de cabra algarvia” (marinated tuna scallops with Algarvian goats cheese) and “Javali à Serrana” (wild boar mountain style).

For dessert, visitors should try the orange flan, fig and carob cheesecake or lemon and mint mousse.

Restaurants participating are: Sem Espinhas, Finalmente, Rios and Ramos (Manta Rota), A Camponesa and Cisne in Vila Nova de Cacela, O Pangaio in Cevadeiras and Casa de Pasto Fernanda e Campinas in Corte António Martins.
