Judges for the 11th annual Scruffts dog show to be held on September 19 at the Fatacil in Lagoa have been announced.
The organisers, Algarve animal charity APAA, have confirmed that Pedro Albergaria, the vice president of the Portuguese Kennel Club, will be judging the seven pedigree classes while Georgie Saffin, also of the kennel club, will be judging the 10 mixed breed classes.
Meanwhile, local multilingual dog trainer Virginia Gonçalves will be hosting a dedicated ring to advise on and demonstrate dog training and obedience and Margaret Gobby will be returning with the agility course.
Each class winner will receive a cup, rosette and a five Euro voucher for a photo by the official show photographer, John Oliver, while bags of dog food will be provided for first, second and third place dogs by the show sponsor, Skinner’s Pet Foods.
There will be a number of trade stands, pet groomers and animal welfare charities also present at the show and lunchtime entertainment will be provided by Frank Sinatra tribute act Chris Storey.
Entrance to the show costs one Euro with class entry costing three Euros.
Visitors to the show who are bringing dogs with them will be required to bring vaccination books with them.
The Algarve Resident is proud to be sponsors of the Best Pedigree Puppy 2010 category.
