Scruffts Dog Show news

Scruffts Dog Show will be held on September 20, showcasing for the first time guide dogs from the Association for Guide Dogs for the Blind in Portugal.

The show, now in its 10th year, will take place at the Fatacil grounds in Lagoa where guide dogs and their handlers will have the opportunity to interact with those visiting the show in an effort to increase awareness of the worthy cause.

Faro-based AHCTA’s Search and Rescue Team will also be showcasing their dogs, completing a number of stimulated “emergency response” demonstrations for the attendees.

There will also be 17 pedigree and non-pedigree judging classes along with an opportunity for dogs and their owners to compete in the Agility Course organised by Margaret Gobby and also to learn about “clicker” training with Yolande Bosman.

APAA president Alan Camplin-Smith said: “We are delighted that Paws4Pets, the Albufeira-based pet food and supplies company, has agreed to be our main sponsor; they are providing all the prizes for the 19 judging classes.”

At the event, there will be 25 trade stands and entertainment will be provided along with plenty of food outlets.

All dogs entering any of the judging classes need up-to-date vaccination papers which must be available for inspection and dogs born after January 1, 2008 and all dangerous breeds must have microchips.
