Lagoa celebrated the creation of a new scouts group with a party at the city’s São José Convent on March 28.
Regional scouts groups and family and friends joined in the celebrations of the Lagoa group.
The Lagoa Grupo 238, as it is known, whose head office is at the CHE Lagoense building at the Cerca de São José, is part of the Portugal Scouts Association (Associação Escoteiros de Portugal), which is open to both Portuguese and foreign residents alike.
Lagoa parish council president Francisco Martins addressed those present on the day and expressed his appreciation for the group who aims to boost social, cultural and recreational activities in the council.
Michael Ferrada of the south branch of the Portugal Scouts Association told the Algarve Resident that there are plans to open scouts groups in Benafim (Loulé), Almancil and Albufeira.
