Scottish resident attacked and robbed in Albufeira

A Scottish man, attacked and robbed in Albufeira earlier this week, had to be treated in hospital for injuries suffered to his face.

GNR police are said to be investigating the incident which happened as the town struggles to get back to normal following last weekend’s devastating floods.

The Scottish resident, aged 54, is understood to have been returning home after a night in the bars when he was set on by another man, who stole his Nokia phone.

The victim’s account describes how his attacker “injured him with stones to the face”, writes Correio da Manhã, though local police are more inclined to the scenario that the man was the worse for wear through drink, and actually hurt himself by falling to the ground.

The incident happened at 4.30am in front of Hotel Aqua, in the Quinta da Pedra dos Bicos area, adds CM.
