A Scottish man from Glasgow, who has been wanted by Spanish police for the past 14 years, was detained at Faro airport by the immigration control authority (SEF) on June 17.
The man, who is confirmed as being 34 years old, was described by SEF as a “dangerous individual” and is wanted by the Spanish authorities for crimes of violence and aggression.
The man was presented before a judge at the court in Évora and has now been taken to Beja prison where he awaits extradition to Spain at the request of the Spanish authorities.
A spokesman from the British Embassy in Lisbon told the Algarve Resident that the Embassy has not been contacted by the man or his family in relation to this case.
