A 16-year-old who belonged to the so-called “scooter gang” which had been terrorising youngsters in Faro since September has been arrested by PJ police.
The gang – made up of teenagers who used kick scooters to get around – would target other youngsters at night, robbing them with a knife and “what looked like a gun”.
The recurring nature of these crimes caused “great social alarm,” according to the police force, and saw several warnings being posted on social media.
An investigation was launched and led the police force to track down the young man, who was arrested and was due to appear before a judge. Police also searched his house, finding several of the items that had been stolen.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues to identify the remaining members of the gang.
