Schoolbooks

A schoolbook recycling initiative started by a teacher on Facebook last August has led to the creation of 60 free book collection and exchange points across the country.

Henrique Trigueiros Cunha, project mentor, hopes the government will regulate the free exchange of schoolbooks, “a practice that would help save €105 million in three years”.

He said: “How can a bankrupt country continue to spend millions of euros every year on books for needy families?” In the Algarve, there are three schoolbook drop-off points: Faro, Albufeira and Portimão. Visit www.facebook.com/Movimentopelareutilizacao
