School maintains high standards

Aljezur International School has announced a 100% pass rate for students who recently sat University of Cambridge International GCSE exams.

Of the total 54 examinations entered, 37% achieved A star or A grades. A total of 93% scored a C grade or above.

Co-director and Portuguese teacher Sílvia Catarino explained: “The standard of Cambridge IGCSE exams is very high indeed which is why many schools in the UK are changing to this syllabus.

“Our students have worked hard and their results demonstrate that. We’re extremely proud of them all.”

IGCSEs are the first major exams taken by Year 11 students at international schools and form the basis of students’ futures, whether academic or vocational.

Sílvia added: “Some of our students will now be continuing their education by studying for AS and A levels, either here in Portugal or in the UK, while others will be studying or working abroad.

“All the teachers at Aljezur International wish them every success in their chosen paths for the future.”
