THE REGIONAL water company Águas do Algarve has issued some water saving measures which people can adopt in their homes to save hundreds of litres every day.
By placing water flow reducers on taps and showers, 80 per cent of the water normally wasted can be saved, according to Águas do Algarve.
Other methods of saving water include using a glass full of water for brushing teeth and putting the plug in the sink when shaving, instead of allowing the tap to run.
Washing cars with a bucket and sponge and using washing machines when they have a full load is also advised.
