Sassetti, Laginha and Algarve Orchestra to perform in Lagoa

TOMORROW NIGHT (February 11) will see acclaimed pianists Bernardo Sassetti and Mário Laginha perform a concert in Lagoa, accompanied by the Orquestra do Algarve, directed by maestro Osvaldo Ferreira. The concert, commencing at 9.30pm, will be staged at the Municipal Auditorium.  

Bernardo Sassetti, 35, has studied classical music and jazz under Zé Eduardo and began his professional career in 1987, when he played with the Carlos Martins Quartet and the Moreiras Jazztett group at just 18 years of age.

Mário Laginha, 45, studied at the National Conservatory and concluded his studies there with top honours, obtaining the Teresa Vieira Prize and Bach Prize in 1986. After dedicating himself to jazz and playing with the Sexteto de Jazz de Lisboa, he formed the Decateto Mário Laginha in 1997.
