Sardines return to Portimão

Portimão is once again playing host to the Sardine Festival at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições. This year, there will be eight restaurants for sardine lovers to choose from, with a total of 1,600 seats. For non-fish eaters, there will be other food available at the event, including the traditional pão com chouriço (salami sandwich), fast food and ice creams.

Portimão Câmara has revealed that a total of 152 artesan stalls will be at the event and there will be performances by some of Portugal’s most successful bands.

Artists such as Martinho da Vila (August 6), David Fonseca (August 7), Rui Veloso (August 8), Bonga (August 9), Santamaria (August 10), Sérgio Godinho (August 11), Anjos (August 12), Mariza (August 13), Clã (August 14) and Banda Eva (August 15) will play the festival. Then, from 11.30pm onwards, spectators can enjoy a colourful light and water show overlooking the Arade River.
