One of the Algarve’s most popular gastronomic summer events, the Portimão Sardine Festival, will take place from August 1 to 11 featuring traditional celebrations and entertainment along the riverside.
The event always attracts thousands of tourists to the town which is regarded as the capital of grilled sardines, and the local restaurants will have many special fish menus on offer.
The wining and dining will be enhanced by a variety of entertainment including dancing, folk music and street acts.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy various attractions for children alongside the river, including typical tasty snacks such as grilled octopus, and also visit the Portimão Museum to learn about the fishing traditions of the town.
