Sardine Festival in August

One of the most popular gastronomic events in Portugal, the 19th edition of the “Festival da Sardinha” will take place between August 6 and 11 at Portimão’s Parque de Feiras e Exposições.

The festival, one of the main attractions of the Algarve’s summer programme, will consist of an agenda that combines both traditional and modern aspects while still retaining the local charm of the city and its community, factors considered essential to guarantee the success of the event and entice new visitors.

Visitors will be able to savour the delicious fish grilled to perfection, as well as browse through the commercial offerings and watch the night-time entertainment that has characterised the event over the last 19 years, provided by a line-up of Portugal’s most reputable artists of the time.

Thousands of residents and tourists visit the Sardine Festival each year. Its combination of gastronomy, craftsmanship, music, entertainment and children’s activities, alongside the beautiful landscape of the Arade River in an outdoor environment, has made it a firm favourite of the Algarve’s summer offerings.

Registrations are now open for craftsmen, merchants and sellers in general who are directly involved in the sectors of fishing and the canning industry, as well as local crafts. To reserve a space, contact Portimão Urbis.
