São Brás Câmara invests in sport for community

The new municipal football ground with artificial grass in São Brás de Alportel was inaugurated by the secretary of state for youth and sport, Laurentino Dias, on April 4.

This community facility, which measures 95 x 95sqm, is part of the second phase of the São Brás sports and leisure park, which is a priority for the council to develop its residents’ quality of life.

The first phase of the sports and leisure park consisted of the construction of the municipal swimming pool which opened last year.

The third phase of the project will include the construction of three new tennis courts, which will be located near the municipal swimming pool, as well as an area to practise radical sports, a children’s play park, a boule green and a running track.

“The investment in sports infrastructures is one of the fundamental pillars of the policies of sports in our council,” said Câmara President António Eusébio. “If we do not improve our infrastructures then we cannot give sport a future.” he added.
