Santo António Golf, located behind the fishing village of Salema near Lagos and Sagres, is gearing up to host the sixth edition of the Pepo Gancedo Trophy on Sunday, August 7.
The event aims to promote socialising and foster healthy competition among golfers whilst also paying tribute to the architect that designed Santo António Golf.
The tournament with a Singles Stableford competition, with a shotgun start at 9.30am.
After the event, a buffet lunch will be prepared for all competition participants at the Spike Bar Restaurant. Prizes will also be awarded to the participants in different categories in order to honour the best golfers of the day.
José Pepe Gancedo, who passed away in 2016, was a prominent golfer and a distinguished golf architect who earned the status of the “Picasso of Golf.”
Says Santo António golf, “the Spanish architect was considered a genius and a creative designer who respects the natural shape of the landscape and terrain to create the most beautiful golf grounds.
“His method consists in feeling the entire course to draw its personality, from the trees to the wild vegetation of the green fields, resulting in great golf courses, full of personality, one of these creations being the Santo Antonio Golf,” it adds.
The participation fee for the sixth edition of the Pepe Gancedo trophy is €10.
