Santarém hospital has 21 infected doctors with 50 more in isolation

Santarém hospital has 21 doctors infected with Covid-19 and 50 more in isolation. But the message for the time being is that “all services are assured”.

Ana Infante, president of the hospital’s administrative council, has told Lusa that the infected doctors, along with infected nurses and assistants, had been working on a ‘non-Covid ward’ which has now had to be closed for disinfection.

All patients have been transferred to other infirmaries while staff in isolation are waiting to hear when they will be allowed back to work.

Meantime, the hospital has 27 patients interned for treatment for the virus, three of which are in intensive care.

No mention is made of whether or not the patients on the non-Covid ward have been tested for the virus.
