Santander Totta sends out dismissal notices to 145 bank staff

Santander Totta has started notifying workers affected by the collective dismissals ongoing within the banking sector. In all, 145 people are believed to be affected. They will only leave the bank next year, writes ECO online, as by law they require 75 days notice. A source for the bank has said that in the intervening period it will “continue to accept friendly recisions, offering more favourable terms of exit”. Syndicates nonetheless remain up-in-arms, saying this is much more a “selective dismissal” as the people losing their jobs are those with “a history of illnesses and / or single parents”.
