Santa visits Querença’s Christmas market

A visit by Santa Claus will be the highlight of Querença’s Christmas market, to be held Sunday (December 20) in front of the village church between 10am and 1pm.

The event will feature stalls selling handicrafts, sweets and other local crafts, as well as all kinds of entertainment including a showcooking demonstration at 10am led by chef Paulo Botelho, a former contestant on MasterChef Portugal, who will be providing tips on how to cook with regional products including acorns and sweet potatoes.

A little later, Father and Mother Christmas will be arriving at the market, promising “lots of surprises” for younger visitors.

Also on sale will be Querença’s famous BEQ energy bar, produced using only 100% natural ingredients from the Algarve (see 100% Algarve energy bar now on sale).

The event is part of ‘Projecto Querença’ – an ongoing project designed to make the most of the region’s interior and its traditions – and is supported by the parish union of Querença, Tôr and Benafim as well as Loulé council.
