Santa Claus is coming to Faro… on a bicycle!

Faro’s Christmas festivities will begin on Saturday (November 30) when Santa Claus will arrive in town on a bicycle.

Anyone will be able to join Santa on his 18km bike journey into town which will begin in Estoi at Largo da Liberdade at 9am and will include stops at the Conceição de Faro Parish Council at 9.30am and at Faro’s Parque de Lazer das Figuras at 10am before reaching its final destination at Jardim Manuel Bivar at 10.30am.

His arrival will also mark the opening of the town’s Christmas market at Passeio da Rainha, the street located behind the town’s customs building. The market will be open on weekends between 3pm and 7pm.

Children are also invited to visit Santa’s House, which will be open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 7pm and Sundays from 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm. It will be located near the town’s old Zara clothing store.

There will be all kinds of fun-filled activities from face painting and ‘crazy hairstyles’ to a mini gym and traditional games. There will also be a bouncy castle on Rua 1º de Dezembro.

A variety of street entertainment is also planned to take place on Rua de Santo António, Rua 1º de Dezembro and Passeio da Rainha, including Christmas parades, scientific activities, sports events, concerts, theatre and dance performances and much more.

Another highlight of the town’s festive agenda will be a Christmas concert featuring the four choirs of the Coral Ossónoba. It will take place on Sunday, December 15 at 6pm at the São Pedro Church. Admission is free.
