Tavira council is carrying out sand replenishment works on the beaches of Barril and Terra Estreita in Santa Luzia, to create the necessary conditions for this year’s summer bathing season.
The operation, authorised by the regional water authority, ARH, also includes the preservation of the so-called anchors graveyard at Praia do Barril.
A spokesman from Tavira Câmara said: “Once the sand replenishment works and the rebuilding of the dunes are finished, the bathing season can open.”
The beaches are also to be cleaned by the environmental municipal company TaviraVerde.
