Salgados beach closed due to pollution

A red flag forbidding beachgoers from swimming at Praia dos Salgados in Albufeira was hoisted on Tuesday (July 25) after tests found the beach’s water to be “polluted with microorganisms”. The source of the infected water is believed to be a water pipe at Lagoa dos Salgados. Despite the red flag, many were seen swimming. “It doesn’t seem to be dirty,” one family told Correio da Manhã tabloid.
