Saint Andrew’s Ball returns to Penina Hotel

The Saint Andrew’s Society of the Algarve is a small group of Scots and other nationalities whose main aim is to promote all things Scottish, but also to enjoy themselves. The Society’s annual Saint Andrew’s Ball is on Saturday, November 25 and, once again, it will be at the Penina Hotel, near Portimão.

Participants will be greeted by the skirl of the pipes from 7pm, played by Malcolm MacGillivray. Following a champagne reception, there will be a buffet accompanied by wine, followed by coffee and Atholl Brose.

Scottish dancing will then take place to the sound of ceilidh band from Scotland, The Sound of Islay.

“Each dance will be talked and walked through beforehand so no need for beginners to hang back! This is a great opportunity to get out your glad rags,” said Doug McAdam, Chieftain.

Tickets cost €45 for Society members and €47.50 for non-members. If you prefer not to drive and spend the night at the hotel after the Ball, and/or have a round of golf on the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course, the hotel is offering special rates for ball participants.
