Sagres tragedy bodies to be flown back to UK before weekend

THE BODIES OF the three British tourists who drowned on Monday at Tonel beach near Sagres are expected to be returned to the UK before the weekend.

The families are waiting for the conclusion of the autopsies and release of the bodies by the local branch of the Instituto de Medicina Legal, the national division of forensic and legal medicine.

After the legal formalities, authorities will release the bodies and the families are already working with the British Consulate to prepare the transferring procedures to their hometown in Wooten Bassett, Wiltshire, England.

Meanwhile, and despite several reports saying that Portuguese authorities were to act against members of the group for negligence, the maritime commander in the region said: “There’s no intention of starting legal procedures as a result of possible negligence against the families of the children.”
