The PSP’s Verão Seguro (safe summer) campaign has seen 1800 drivers arrested in the space of just a month: among them 570 for driving under the effects of alcohol; 482 for having arrest warrants pending; 370 for driving without valid licences and 201 for drug trafficking. The campaign has basically seen an average of 60 arrests per day, with 124 illegal weapons apprehended, among them fire arms. Verão Seguro is a campaign set to run through till the end of August.
