Safe sea

TWO ALBUFEIRA beaches, which had been closed when heavy rains in September caused untreated water to be discharged into the sea, were reopened on October 9.

Tests of the sea water quality of Albufeira’s Inatel and Pescadores beaches showed that they were now safe for swimming.

After the discharge from water treatment plants which affected the beaches (see The Resident edition, September 25), flash floods in Albufeira last month also added to the pollution as the dirty water ran out to sea.
