Sacked deputy secretary of State “will be going to trial”

With so much water having chundered under the bridge since his exit under a cloud from government in November, former deputy secretary of state Miguel Alves (also a former mayor of Caminha), accused of prevarication (malfeasance in public office) will be going to trial in Viana do Castelo, alongside businesswoman Manuela Couto – the wife of former mayor of Santo Tirso – herself also facing charges in another case of alleged corruption involving Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, reports Lusa.
