New national flight routes connecting Lisbon to Porto and Faro will be launched by Irish low-cost airline Ryanair in April at a starting price of €19.99.
The airline will be flying once a day, Monday through Friday, in each direction between Lisbon and Porto and Faro.
Sales and marketing director Luis Fernandez-Mellado announced the move earlier this week in Porto and said the number of flights could increase if the need arises, but for now the airline is expecting to fly over 70,000 passengers in the routes’ first year.
Fernandez-Mellado also announced the opening of another three routes connecting Porto to Brussels (Zeventem), Rennes and Limoges, France. These latest routes mean the Porto base is now linked to 38 destinations.
The airline also foresees an investment of around €90 million in the purchase of 175 planes, of which 100 will be additions to the fleet and the remainder will replace other aircraft.
