Russian pianist Yevgeny Sudbin, hailed as potentially one of the greatest pianists of the 21st century, will be performing two concerts at the Cento Cultural São Lourenço on September 23 and 24.
Both concerts will have the same programme, with Yevgeny Sudbin playing two sonatas by Scarlatti followed by three Petrarch Sonnets by Franz Liszt and, after a break, returning with four preludes by Dmitri Shostakovich and Sergei Rachmaninov.
The talents of Yevgeny Sudbin were noticed when he was very young and at seven years old he entered the St Petersburg Conservatory before continuing his studies in Berlin and later London, at the Royal Academy of Music.
From his home in London, he has travelled extensively to give recitals across the world.
During 2008 and 2009, the young pianist recorded the complete cycle of Beethoven concertos with the Minnesota Orchestra while his recording of the Rachmaninov Concerto Number Four has just been released.
The concert is due to begin on both days at 7.30pm with wine and lemonade served from 7pm.
Entry to the performance costs 25 Euros for guests and non members.
